I make wooden kitchenware inspired by simple, functional objects that are meant to be used every day.
I grew up in the Czech Republic, where my father and grandfather taught me to appreciate the creative and practical possibilities of wood. My father was a skilled woodcarver, and my grandfather helped restore wooden parts of churches.
After moving to the United States, I eventually made my home in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today I work as an antiques restorer and spend much of my free time making wooden spoons, spatulas, bowls, cutting boards, and other kitchen pieces.
Every item is made by me from start to finish, using carefully selected woods such as maple, cherry, walnut, and other distinctive species. I shape each piece individually and try to highlight the grain, color, and character already present in the wood.
Because each piece is handmade from natural material, no two are exactly alike. Grain, color, shape, and small details will vary from the photographs—and that individuality is part of what makes each piece unique.
